Objectives

This study aims to compare the performance of three clay pot formulations used for irrigation by evaluating both their water-use efficiency and their effects on the growth and productivity of lettuce and radish under Madagascar's agroecological conditions.

Methodology

The experiment will be conducted in Antananarivo on red ferrallitic soil using a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three blocks. Treatments consist of three clay pot formulations and a conventional surface irrigation control. Lettuce seedlings will be transplanted after nursery production, while radish will be direct-seeded. Two clay pots will be installed in each experimental plot. Crop management includes vermicompost fertilization, manual weeding, preventive garlic-based biopesticide applications, and regular irrigation monitoring. Statistical analyses will be performed using RStudio or XLSTAT with descriptive statistics and correlation analysis.
